THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will not continue its probe into former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Umno lawmaker Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said.

He said the anti-graft agency has classified both cases as “no further action (NFA)”.

“MACC found that there was no element of wrongdoing under the MACC Act,” he said, referring to both Muhyiddin’s and Tajuddin’s case.

Wan Junaidi was responding in a written parliamentary reply to questions from Teo Nie Ching (Kulai-PH).

Muhyiddin was investigated for allegedly offering government-linked company jobs in exchange for political support while Tajuddin was under probe for alleged abuse of power.

Previously, an unverified audio recording alleging that Muhyiddin wanted to entice Umno leaders to join Bersatu with promises of government positions had made its rounds on social media.

The recording was believed to be made at the Bersatu Supreme Council meeting on February 23, 2020, a day before Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister and Bersatu chairman.

Meanwhile, Tajuddin, the former Prasarana chairman, was arrested by MACC on May 28 last year, but was subsequently released on bail.

It was reported that the authorities arrested him to assist in investigations linked to the appointment of his son-in-law in Prasarana.

Wan Junaidi, however, said the investigation against Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar is ongoing.

The investigation against the former land, water and natural resources minster started in February last year after the anti-graft agency arrested his ally and PKR Perak deputy chief M.A. Tinagaran.
