More than 870,000 kids 5-11 get first vaccine jab

A TOTAL of 879,264 (24.8%) children aged 5 to 11 have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children as of yesterday.

As many as 14.6 million (62.3%) adults have received their booster, 22.9 (97.5%) have completed their vaccination and 23.2 (98.7%) have received at least one dose.

A total of 2.80 million (90%) adolescents aged 12 to 17 have completed their vaccination, while 2.89 million (93.1%) have received at least one dose.

Yesterday, 115,202 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered, of which 34,200 are first doses, 1,259 second doses and 79,743 boosters, bringing the total number of vaccine dispensed under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme to 67.2 million.

Malaysia recorded 75 Covid-19 deaths yesterday, with Selangor claiming 22, followed by Johor (13), Sabah (11), Kedah (7) and Perak (7).

Penang, Kelantan and Malacca each claimed three deaths, while Terengganu had two, Pahang (1), Negri Sembilan (1), Kuala Lumpur (1) and Sarawak (1). – Bernama, March 1, 2022.
