PEOPLE who have received Covid-19 booster shots and are flagged as a close contact, but are not symptomatic will not need to be quarantined, Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

“They just need to take a test on the first and third days,” Khairy said in a press conference.

“They will not need to retest if both tests come back negative, but they will have to quarantine at home for five days if they have symptoms on the first day.”

However, people who are not fully vaccinated or have yet to take their booster shot, must quarantine at home for seven days, the minister said, adding that the new protocol is effective from March 1.

He added that fully vaccinated close contacts who have just recovered from Covid-19 within 60 days will not have to go into quarantine.

Meanwhile, the government has extended the deadline to March 31 to achieve fully vaccinated status.

“All the senior citizens (above 60 years old) and those who took Sinovac vaccines still have to take their booster shots to keep their fully vaccinated status in MySejahtera.

“However, the deadline for this has been extended to March 31. Starting April 1, those who have not received their booster shot will have their fully vaccinated status changed to incomplete vaccination,” Khairy said.

In December, the government announced that all those aged 60 and above as well as those who took the Sinovac vaccine will have to get a third shot by February or will be deemed not fully vaccinated. – February 24, 2022.
