PARTI Warisan Sabah (Warisan) yesterday unveiled its own mobile app and dedicated website, called “Perjuangan Rakyat”, as a way to disseminate party news and information directly to the Sabahan public.

“We hope Sabahans will download the app so we can communicate with them directly.

“It (the app) is also an effort to appeal to young, tech-savvy voters,” said party treasurer Terrence Siambun today.

Siambun said this during the party’s walkabout in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations in Penampang, Sabah.

Also present were party secretary Loretto Padua Jr and information chief Honorsius Bosuin.

Party members have begun sharing details about the app and website through various social media platforms, including WhatsApp.

In a video making the rounds on social media platforms, party deputy president Darell Leiking said that “Perjuangan Rakyat” was aimed at garnering support from Sabahans living both in the peninsula and in Sabah.

“Change cannot only come from West Malaysia. It also must come from Sabah.

“I urge my friends and supporters from Sabah to connect through WhatsApp and social media, and to engage and speak with our friends in Peninsular Malaysia to understand why we need to bring change to the federation,” Leiking said.

The app is available on the Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store, and at www.rakyatsproject.org.

Warisan will also be using the platforms to gather public views on national and state issues, and for crowd-funding matters.

The platforms have yet to see an official launch, which, according to Siambun, will be done by party president Shafie Apdal soon.

On a separate matter, Padua said Warisan may convene for the party’s annual general meeting (AGM) in March.

He said he had already received a letter from the Registrar of Societies telling Warisan to to commence its AGM.

“We will start (meeting at) the branches first before having the central meeting, which we expect to have in March,” he said.

According to Padua, Warisan has over 300 branches across the state. – February 8, 2018.
