THE Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) is ready to face PKR in the Johor elections if talks for seats fail, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said today.

The youth-based party chief, however, said Muda is ready to continue to negotiate with PKR over seat allocations.

“Muda has met with PKR in a series of negotiations but PKR has made its decision to contest in 20 seats, thus ending our official negotiations.

“However, Muda has made it clear to DAP and Amanah that we want to avoid clashing with each other, and we are also ready to continue negotiating.

“If there is no improvement from PKR regarding the seat allocations, Muda will hold a special meeting this week to look for a way forward.

“If we can’t avoid clashing with PKR, we will let the people of Johor decide,” said Syed Saddiq.

Unlike PKR, Amanah and DAP have agreed to allocate six seats to Muda.

They will be giving up seats in Bukit Kepong, Bukit Permit, Machap, Parit Raja, Puteri Wangsa and Tenang.

The six seats given to Muda were contested by Bersatu in the 14th general election. Of the six seats, Bersatu won four (Tenang, Bukit Kepong, Puteri Wangsa and Bukit Permai).

The incumbent assemblymen in the six seats Muda is targeting are Mohd Solihan Badri (Tenang-PN), Sahrudin Jamal (Bukit Kepong-PN), Nor Rashidah Ramli (Parit Raja-BN), Abd Taib Abu Bakar (Machap-BN), Mazlan Bujang (Puteri Wangsa-BN) and Tosrin Jarvanthi (Bukit Permai-PN).

It was previously reported that PKR has offered Muda three seats to contest in the upcoming Johor elections.

Johor PKR chief Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh said his party is waiting for Muda’s response on the offer.

To date, no confirmation has been made by Muda on PKR’s offer. – February 18, 2022.
