MALAYSIA has reported 21,072 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, a drop from yesterday’s 22,802 daily infections.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said most of the new infections are in the asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic categories.
Of the latest figure, 20,986 or 99.59% of the cases are in the less severe categories of 1 and 2 while only 86 or 0.41% of cases are in the more serious categories of 3, 4 and 5.
The breakdown of the cases by categories is as follows:
Category 1: 5,995 cases (28.45%)
Category 2: 14,991 cases (71.14%)
Category 3: 58 cases (0.28%)
Category 4: 20 cases (0.09%)
Category 5: 8 cases (0.04%).
The cumulative number of infections since the onset of Covid-19 stands at 3,040,235.
The number of daily cases had increased in the last nine days.
The breakdown of cases by state will be uploaded on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow portal after midnight.
Meanwhile, more than 22.9 million adults in the country, or 97.5%, have completed their vaccination while 23.2 million of them (98.7%) have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
More than 2.79 million of minors aged 12 to 17, or 89.8%, have completed their vaccination while 2.87 million of them (92.3%) have received at least one dose of a vaccine.
Also, more than 135,000 children aged five to 11, or 3.8%, have received the first dose of a vaccine.
The CovidNow website also shows that 13.2 million of adults, or 56%, have received the booster dose. – February 13, 2022.
