UMNO vice-president Khaled Nordin has mocked Muhyiddin Yassin for being preoccupied with the party’s so-called court cluster.
The former Johor menteri besar took a jibe on the Bersatu chairman in a Facebook post for claiming that the only way to prevent the Umno court cluster from returning to power was to defeat them in the Johor elections.
“No one from his so-called court cluster is contesting in the Johor polls. If he dislikes certain people in Umno, he shouldn’t draw Johor folk into his rhetoric.”
“I pity Muhyiddin, the ex-prime minister who said that the way to stop the Umno court cluster from returning to power was to defeat Barisan Nasional in the state elections.
“He is getting too obsessed with this term, which he created himself, when the country was moving forward, finding stability and seeing improvement in the economy.
“I feel sorry for him. He is haunted by this court cluster, everywhere he goes he can’t shake the court cluster off his mind,” Khaled said.
The Johor polls are set for March 12 while nomination day will be on February 26.
The court cluster refers to Umno leaders facing criminal charges in court. Among them include party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and former prime minister Najib Razak who have been convicted with corruption and money laundering. They are widely seen as liabilities to Umno.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin had previously asked voters in the coming Johor elections if they want to throw their support behind a party with corrupt leaders.
To which Khaled said Muhyiddin should mind his own business as many Bersatu members are now leaving the party for Umno.
“Muhyiddin is facing the worst crisis of his political career. He only has PAS now after losing support as PM, and then the party losing big in Malacca and Sarawak.
“Day by day, many Bersatu leaders and members are leaving the party,” he added. – February 12, 2022.
