Rubber glove stock prices rise amid Omicron wave

RUBBER glove maker counters emerged among the top gainers today, led by Top Glove Corporation Bhd, on the back of rising Covid-19 cases as the country enters an Omicron wave.

Top Glove’s shares price rose 11.98%, from RM2.27 at opening to RM2.43 at 3pm, with 49.4 million shares traded.

Hartalega Holdings Bhd’s shares price also increased by 26 sen to stand at RM5.86, with 4.75 million shares traded, while Supermax Corporation Bhd’s increased seven sen to RM1.33, with 23.4 million shares traded.

Other glove maker stocks on the rise include Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd, which gained nine sen to RM1.92, with 8.92 million shares changing hands, and Careplus Group Bhd, which gained 9.5 sen to RM1.04, with 25.2 million shares changing hands.

Malaysia recorded 11,034 fresh coronavirus infections today, as the country is fully hit by an Omicron wave.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the number of daily cases is expected to hit 15,000 soon. – Bernama, February 7, 2022.
