10 new Covid cases among Olympic arrivals

TEN fresh Covid-19 infections have been reported among individuals who arrived at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, in the past 24 hours, reported Sputnik.

About 72,000 tests have been carried out at the Games, said the organising committee today.

It added that four athletes have tested positive and are in isolation.

The committee, however, said cases have dipped as arrivals have scaled down after the opening ceremony on Friday.

The International Olympic Committee on Friday said it has registered 21 Covid-19 cases among Games participants who arrived over a 24-hour period, taking the total number of cases in the bubble to 308.

It said 1,344 event-related arrivals entered China on Thursday, including 737 athletes and team officials and 607 stakeholders.

The Winter Olympics will last until February 20 and the Paralympic Games will be held on March 4 to 13. – Bernama, February 3, 2022.
