COVID-19 cases in Malaysia soared as the Health Ministry reported 7,234 fresh infections as of noon today, its director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
Today’s cases the highest recorded in 2022.
The country last recorded cases in the 7,000-range on October 16, 2021, where 7,509 cases were logged.
Malaysia has now recorded more than 5,000 cases for four consecutive days.
Noor Hisham said the cumulative infection since the onset of the epidemic stands at 2,895,014.
The breakdown of cases by state will be uploaded on the ministry’s CovidNow portal after midnight.
Meanwhile, a total of 22.9 million people or 97.9% of the adult population in the country have completed vaccination course, while 23.2 million (99.1%) people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Some 2.79 million adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 have are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, while 2.87 million or 91.1% from the age group have received at least one dose. – February 4, 2022.
