14 states, territories report infectivity rate of 1.0 or higher

FOURTEEN of the 16 states and territories in the country have recorded an infectivity rate (Rt) of 1.0 or higher as of yesterday, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The national Rt stands at 1.15.

Five states and one federal territory reported a higher Rt than the national average. They are Perlis (1.29), Putrajaya (1.21), Johor (1.17), Kedah (1.16), Penang (1.16) and Sabah (1.16).

Negri Sembilan reported an Rt of 1.13, while Selangor’s is 1.12, Malacca (1.12), Kuala Lumpur (1.11), Kelantan (1.10), Perak (1.07), Pahang (1.04) and Terengganu (1.00).

Since Labuan and Sarawak have been reporting fewer new Covid-19 cases for the past few days, their Rt is 0.00.

The Rt value has remained above 1.0 for the past week, with fresh infections continuing to increase day by day.
