THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is investigating two reports against Maszlee Malik, but did not reveal the full details of complaints against the Simpang Renggam MP.

“MACC would like to emphasise that the investigation (into Maszlee) is carried out following an official complaint regarding an alleged corruption case,” said the anti-graft agency in a statement today.

“Each investigation is conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures by interviewing several witnesses involved.

“MACC will not bow to any pressure from any party to divert matters of corruption and malpractice.”

The agency also denied that it intimidated Maszlee’s officers, as claimed by the PKR lawmaker.

Maszlee yesterday claimed that MACC personnel intimidated his officers, an action he linked to his support of calls for MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki to be probed.

He said anti-graft personnel went to his service centre in Simpang Renggam, Johor, and questioned his officers on activities organised in his constituency.

He was summoned by police today over a protest held outside Parliament on January 20, which called for Azam to be suspended.

MACC stressed that all parties should stop sensationalising the probe process.

“The investigation will be based on the principles of transparency, fairness and professionalism. Involved parties should stop sensationalising the issue.” – January 30, 2022.
