DONALD Trump will pardon rioters charged with deadly assault on the United States (US) Capitol on January 6 last year, if he runs and wins in the 2024 presidential election.

“If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6 fairly,” said the former president at a rally in Texas yesterday, according to Sputnik.

“If it requires pardons, we will give them pardons because they are being treated so unfairly.”

However, he did not elaborate on whether he plans to join the presidential race.

Trump supporters entered the US Capitol last year to protest the certifying of the 2020 presidential election results from several states that the ex-president claimed were fraudulent.

Authorities have arrested more than 725 people for criminal offences relating to the riot in almost all 50 states. – Bernama, January 30, 2022.
