Daily Covid cases stay above 5,000 for 3rd straight day

MALAYSIA reported 5,139 fresh Covid-19 cases as of noon today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abduallah said.  

This is the third straight day the country’s daily infections breach the 5,000 mark. However, the number is a drop from yesterday’s 5,522.  

Noor Hisham said the new cases brought the cumulative infection figure since the onset of the pandemic to 2.86 million.  

The breakdown of cases will be updated on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website after midnight. 

Meanwhile, a total of 22.92 million individuals or 97.9% of adults in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination course, while 23.2 million individuals or 99.1% of the group have received at least one dose of the vaccine. 

As for adolescents aged 12-17, a total of 2.79 million individuals or 88.6% have been fully dosed, while 2.87 million or 91.1% have received at least one dose of the vaccine. – January 29, 2022.
