PHARMANIAGA Bhd has announced the appointment of Zainal Abidin Mohd Rafique as its non-independent and non-executive chairman effective on February 1, 2022.

In filings with Bursa Malaysia today, the integrated pharmaceutical group said Zainal will replace Mohamed Shazalli Ramly, who will be redesignated a non-independent director of the company.

Currently, Zainal, 63, is a non-executive director at Boustead Petroleum Marketing Sdn Bhd, a position he has held since 2020, and has been a director of Clock Tower Hotel Sdn Bhd since 2013.

He has vast experience in the corporate world with stints in Putera Capital Bhd as non-executive director from 2006 until 2009, and he was also the non-executive director of Epe Power Bhd from 2000 until 2004.

Zainal graduated with a Bachelor (Hons) degree in Building Economics and Measurement from the University of Aston. – Bernama, January 27, 2022.
