PKR will use its own party logo again in the Johor elections, Anwar Ibrahim said.

DAP and Amanah will use the Pakatan Harapan (PH) logo, said the PH chairman after attending the coalition’s presidential council meeting at the PKR headquarters today.

“The decision on the logo was consensual. PKR will use our own logo while the others will use the PH logo,” said Anwar.

This is the second time that PKR will be using its own logo in a state election after losing all the 28 seats it contested in Sarawak last month.

PKR had also lost all the 11 seats it contested in the Malacca polls last year despite using the PH logo.

The Johor assembly was dissolved last weekend and the Election Commission will meet next month to set the dates for the polls.

Meanwhile, Anwar said that PH has not decided on how many seats other opposition parties will get.

“The meeting was just to discuss seat allocations for PH,” said the 74-year-old.

Anwar was responding to a question on how many seats had been allocated to Muda.

“We did not discuss Muda today,” said the PKR president.

Anwar said the group had also not decided on a menteri besar candidate for Johor.

As it stands now, Umno and DAP have the most seats with 14 each, followed by Bersatu (11), PKR (7), Amanah (6), MIC (2) and PAS (1), totalling 55 after the death of Kempas assemblyman Osman Sapian last month.

In 2018, PH had unseated Barisan Nasional (BN) after winning 36 of the 56 seats while BN and PAS only had 19 and one respectively.

But following Bersatu and PKR’s defections in 2020, BN partnered Perikatan Nasional to rule the state with a simple majority of 29 seats. That simple majority, however, was reduced to 28 after Osman’s death on December 22. – January 26, 2022.

  • It's not about which logo to use but rather a creditable opposition leader that can take on the back door government. Despite the facts with them having court cases the opposition can't seem to pull through the masses, why?
