THE Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) is driving steel piles to reinforce the side of a large drain near the location of a landslide in Jalan LP 1A/2, Serdang.

Petaling district officer Johary Anuar said the work is being carried out by a contractor appointed by MBSJ as a safety measure.

He said MBSJ’s engineering department has found that there is still ground movement in the area.

“The contractor came to see (the area) and carried out work to drive sheet piles at the landslide area to act as a retaining wall, besides piling in the nearby area,” he said.

Johary said a discussion will be held with the council to decide on a long-term solution to the situation.

“This is the second time such an incident occurred in the area and we view this matter seriously (and will work) to identify the cause of the landslip,” he said.

In the 6.38pm incident yesterday, five vehicles were damaged. However, no casualties were reported. – Bernama, January 26, 2022.
