17 business premises in Seri Kembangan closed following landslide

FOLLOWING the landslide at Lestari Perdana near Seri Kembangan, Serdang, yesterday, 17 business premises have been ordered by police to close until further notice.

“Seventeen commercial premises were ordered to close temporarily following the advice from Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya engineering department,” Serdang police chief A.A. Anbalagan said in a statement.

In a Facebook post, MBSJ’s corporate and strategic management department deputy director, Azfarizal Abdul Rashid said they have also ordered vehicles parked in the vicinity to move to a safer place.

Yesterday, five vehicles were carried away during a landslide on Jalan LP 1A/2 Lestari Perdana.

Serdang Fire and Rescue station assistant superintendent II Saharudin Abdul Razak said they received the call at 6.38pm.

“The rain at the time of the incident caused damage to a nearby drain, resulting in the cave-in. The five cars sank by a depth of 5m to 6m.”

He said the damaged vehicles were parked in front of a workshop, which was 7m from the landslide, adding that there were no reports of any casualties. – January 26, 2022.
