Daily Covid-19 deaths dip to 16

MALAYSIA recorded a decrease in daily coronavirus deaths with 16 yesterday from 22 the day before, said the Health Ministry.

Of the fresh fatalities, all are backdated and two classified as dead on arrival.

The overall death toll now stands at 31,869.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported deaths on the day plus backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Of the fresh fatalities, Selangor claims four, Sabah (3), Penang (2), Negri Sembilan (2), Kedah (1), Kelantan (1), Perak (1), Kuala Lumpur (1) and Johor (1).

Perlis, Pahang, Terengganu, Putrajaya, Malacca, Labuan and Sarawak did not report any coronavirus-related death.

The Covid-19 mortality rate stands at 0.5%, and national average for deaths by infection is five per one million people. – January 22, 2022.
