MALAYSIA saw a rise in Covid-19 daily fatalities as the country registered 22 deaths yesterday compared to 13 the day before, the Health Ministry reported.
Five of the 22 fatalities were classified as dead on arrival (DOA).
According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, all the deaths were backdated.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day, plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.
Of the new deaths reported, Selangor logged the most number of fatalities with seven, followed by Perak with three.
Johor, Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Terengganu reported two deaths each, while Kedah, Kelantan, Pahang and Sarawak had one each.
Malacca, Perlis, Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya did not report any coronavirus-linked deaths.
Meanwhile, Johor, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Selangor each reported one DOA case.
The local Covid-19 mortality rate was at 0.5%, while the national average for deaths by infection was five per one million people. – January 21, 2022.
