Author to give statement tomorrow over SOP breach at book launch

AUTHOR Kee Thuan Chye will be giving a statement at Dang Wangi police station tomorrow over the allegations that his book launch breached Covid-19 SOPs.

“Yes, I will be giving my statement,” said Kee when contacted by The Malaysian Insight today.

He added that he had been asked to appear at the station at 1pm.

It was previously reported that the police were investigating alleged breach of SOPs at the launch of the biography Lim Kit Siang: Malaysian First.

The launch, which was held at the Sogo Convention Hall on January 11, was attended by Lim and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The investigation follows a recent photograph that showed Lim, Syed Saddiq and Kee on stage without face masks.

According to Dang Wangi police chief Noor Delihan Yahaya, the matter will be investigated under Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988. – January 16, 2022.
