REMOVING Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali from PAS’ central committee has nothing to do with Muafakat Nasional (MN), PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said.

Tuan Ibrahim was quoted as telling Utusan Malaysia that changes in party leadership line-up were normal.

“Abdul Hadi Awang had proposed to appoint Khairuddin but then the party president withdrew it because after our meeting, the president had another name, and Khairuddin was dropped.

“It has nothing to do with MN. This is an internal party matter,” he said.

It was previously speculated that Khairuddin was removed for being pro-Umno and MN, as opposed to the party’s stand to have firmer ties with Bersatu in Perikatan Nasional.

On Friday, Hadi confirmed Khairuddin’s removal but did not reveal the reasons behind the move.

“There is discipline in the party. Whoever does not follow (the rules) can be advised, have his position switched or be transferred to work elsewhere, have his membership suspended and can be fired,” Hadi told reporters in Marang.

He said the decision was made in a management committee meeting on Wednesday.

In November the Kuala Nerus MP was appointed to the committee along with two others, Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki after losing in elections at the PAS muktamar.

Khairuddin was previously linked to an audio recording containing a speech criticising Hadi’s leadership as party president.

The speech, among others, raised concerns about Hadi’s stance on the issue of seat negotiations with Umno and Bersatu. – January 16, 2022.
