Australia to detain Djokovic after cancelling visa

NOVAK Djokovic will bid to avoid deportation from Australia today as the world number one’s hopes of winning a record 21st Grand Slam title in Melbourne teetered on the edge following a new cancellation of his visa over Covid-19 protocols.

As time slips away before the Australian Open starts Monday, the nine-time title holder was told in an emergency hearing that he would be placed in immigration detention this morning.
