Perak rep detained for alleged drug use

A PERAK assemblyman was arrested last night at a nightclub in Perai after he allegedly tested positive for drug use, police sources said.

The Malaysian Insight learnt that the 53-year-old politician is a two-term assemblyman.

“He was detained with 35 others at a KTV in Megamall Perai.”

However, the source did not elaborate when pressed further on the matter.

Earlier, FMT reported that the state lawmaker had been brought to the magistrates’ court where the police applied for a remand order.

The outcome of the remand proceedings is still unknown according to the news portal.

It was also learned that the case is being investigated under section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – January 14, 2022.
