821 hospitalised with coronavirus

NEW Covid-19 hospitalisations dropped to 821 yesterday from 937 the day before.

Hospital utilisation rate stood at 65.8%, down from 67.7% the previous day, the Health Ministry said.

Covid-19 cases accounted for 29.4% of the bed occupancy rate.

The number of hospital admissions indicates the severity of the virus. The hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care units and on ventilators.

There were 292 admissions in the Klang Valley, which had a hospital utilisation rate of 61.8%.

Selangor reported 251 admissions, Kuala Lumpur (33) and Putrajaya (8).

Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (172), Kedah (26), Kelantan (53), Malacca (6), Negri Sembilan (67), Pahang (16), Perak (27), Perlis (4), Penang (10), Sabah (92), Sarawak (41), Terengganu (15) and Labuan (1).

Yesterday saw 3,684 new virus infections.

Selangor reported the highest number of cases at 1083, followed by Johor (456) and Kuala Lumpur (309).  

Other states that reported cases were , Kedah (185), Kelantan (279), Malacca (245), Negri Sembilan (158), Pahang (253), Perak (153), Perlis (8), Penang (164), Sabah (257), Sarawak (18), Terengganu (75) and Labuan (18) and Putrajaya (23). 

The Health Ministry said 2.8 million infections have been reported since the onset of the pandemic. – January 14, 2022.

  • And still the borders remain shut to non Malaysian families of Malaysians without a residency permit. Never mind tourists, when can we visit our Malaysian families?
