MALACCA has announced 35 pig farms in Paya Mengkuang, Masjid Tanah, as African swine fever outbreak and control areas.
Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali said this is to control the spread of the virus, but mentioned no specific set period.
“This gazetting is the first and it has no specific period; if this disease ends, the gazetting also ends.
“It involves only livestock farms, where the control will be stricter so the disease does not spread. Only 45,000 livestock are allowed in those farms.”
The Malaysian Veterinary Services Department earlier confirmed that the virus has been detected in 16 commercial pig farms in Paya Mengkuang.
Meanwhile, the chief minister said the state government will install emergency sirens in 124 flood-prone areas in Malacca. – Bernama, January 13, 2022.
