3,198 new infections, second day cases above 3,000

THE Health Ministry has reported 3,198 fresh Covid-19 cases as of noon today, a slight increase in daily infections compared to yesterday’s 3,178 cases.

This would be the second straight day that daily infections have hovered above the 3,000 mark.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 2.79 million people have been infected with the virus since the onset of the pandemic.

The breakdown of cases will be updated in the ministry’s CovidNow website after midnight.

Meanwhile, 22.89 million or 97.8% of the adult population have completed their Covid-19 vaccination, while 2.77 million individuals, or 88% of adolescents aged between 12 and 17 in the country have received both doses of the vaccine. – January 12, 2022.
