MALAYSIA reported 27 new Covid-19 deaths yesterday, of which nine were dead on arrival (DOA), the Health Ministry said.
The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository showed all deaths were backdated.
The number of fatalities reported yesterday is the most since January 4, when 31 fatalities were logged.
This bring the nation’s overall death toll to 31,723, with 6,401 classified as DOA.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.
Selangor reported the most number of deaths at nine, of which two were DOA.
Other states reporting new fatalities were Johor and Terengganu (4 each), Kuala Lumpur and Sabah (3 each), Kelantan, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Pahang (1 each).
No coronavirus-linked fatalities was reported in Kedah, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sarawak, Labuan and Putrajaya.
Besides the two DOA cases reported in Selangor, the other seven were in Sabah (2), as well as Johor, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).
The domestic Covid-19 mortality rate was at 0.6%, while the national average for deaths by infection was seven per million people. – January 12, 2022.
