THE Petaling Jaya Sessions Court today fined an engineer RM6,000, in default six months’ jail, after he pleaded guilty to selling obscene photographs of a woman for RM100 through the Telegram application two years ago.
Judge Norshila Kamaruddin handed down the sentence on Mohd Azri Zahari, 34, who had used the service to provide obscene communication for commercial purposes to a man using an account named Menteri Pasola.
He was charged under section 233(2)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term not exceeding a year or both.
