3,381 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA reported 3,381 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah tweeted.

The cumulative total of Covid-19 infections recorded in the country is now 2.78 million.

The number of new cases today is a slight drop from yesterday’s 3,543, but still an increase from 3,270 the day before.

On the breakdown of new infections by state, Selangor registered the highest number of coronavirus cases at 879 today, followed by Kelantan (385).

 

States and territories with cases in the 200s range were Johor (299), Kuala Lumpur (271), Sabah (242), Pahang (226), Penang (219) and Kedah (216).

Negri Sembilan saw 172 cases, Perak (161), Malacca (141), Terengganu (94), Putrajaya (30), Sarawak (18), Labuan and Perlis (14 each).

Noor Hisham also tweeted that the infection rate nationwide was 0.96 as of yesterday.

Labuan has the highest infection rate at 1.10. – January 7, 2022.
