19 Covid deaths yesterday, MOH says

THE Ministry of Health reported 19 new Covid-19 deaths yesterday, four of which were classified dead on arrival (DOA).

The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository listed the deaths as backdated cases.

The coronavirus death toll has reached 31,628, of which 6,382 are DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Selangor reported four deaths, the most by states or territories. Johor reported three deaths.

Kelantan, Pahang, Sabah and Terengganu each reported two deaths, while Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perak and Penang each reported one death.

No fatalities were reported in Kedah, Perlis, Sarawak, Labuan, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Malaysia’s fatality rate stood at 0.8%, with the national average for coronavirus deaths at eight per population of 1 million. – January 7, 2022.
