INDIA recorded 90,928 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of reported cases in the country to 35.1 million today.

The Health Ministry also registered 325 fresh fatalities since yesterday morning, pushing the death toll to 482,876, according to Xinhua.

The South Asian nation saw a surge in the number of new cases today, as it recorded only 58,097 fresh infections yesterday.

The country currently has 285,401 active Covid-19 cases, including the 71,397 in the last 24 hours – the ninth consecutive day that the number of active cases rose in the country.

A total of 34.3 million coronavirus patients have been discharged from hospitals so far, of which 19,206 discharged in the last 24 hours.

India’s Omicron tally has reached 2,630, with Maharashtra and Delhi reporting 797 and 465 cases, respectively. – Bernama, January 6, 2022.
