Malaysia adds 31 deaths to Covid toll

THE Health Ministry (MOH) today reported 31 new Covid-19 deaths, nine of them classified dead on arrival (DOA).

The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository listed the deaths as backdated cases.

The coronavirus death toll reached 31,591, of which 6,375 were DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Selangor reported the most number of deaths at nine.

Other states reporting new fatalities include Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perak and Sabah (3 each), Pahang and Penang (2 each), Negri Sembilan, Terengganu and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

Of the nine DOA cases, Perak and Sabah reported three each and Kelantan, Penang and Selangor one each.

The domestic Covid-19 mortality rate was at 0.8%, while the national average for deaths by infection was eight per million people. – January 5, 2022.
