Malaysia logs 28 new coronavirus deaths

MALAYSIA reported 28 new Covid-19 deaths yesterday, including four cases that were classified dead on arrival.

All of them were backlog cases, the GitHub raw data repository showed.

These took the virus death toll to 31,560, of which 6,366 were DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Penang reported the most deaths at six, followed by Selangor (5) and Perak (4).

Other states and territories  reporting new deaths are Kelantan (3), Johor (2), Pahang (2), Sabah (2), Terengganu (2), Kedah (1) and Sarawak (1).

No new deaths were reported in Malacca, Negeri Sembilan, Perlis, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

The virus fatality rate dipped to 0.7% yesterday from 0.8% the day before while the 14-day average for deaths by infection stood at eight per million people. – January 4, 2022.
