INDIA’S Covid-19 tally rose to 34.92 million today, as 33,750 new cases were registered in the past 24 hours nationwide, the federal Health Ministry’s latest data showed.

A total of 123 more deaths were recorded since yesterday morning, taking the death toll to 481,893, Xinhua said.

There are currently 145,582 active cases in the country, with an increase of 22,781 during the period.

This is the sixth consecutive day the number of active cases rose in the country.

A total of 10,846 new recoveries were reported to the last 24 hours, bringing the tally of those discharged so far to 34.3 million people.

Meanwhile, the country’s Omicron tally reached 1,700, out of which Maharashtra and Delhi reported 510 and 351 cases respectively.

To date 639 patients have been discharged, as per the federal Health Ministry’s data. – Bernama, January 3, 2022.
