Malaysia posts 19 new Covid deaths, 4 of them dead on arrival

MALAYSIA reported 19 Covid-related deaths yesterday, including four which were dead on arrival.

All of them were backlog cases, the GitHub raw data repository showed.

These took the virus death toll to 31,532, of which 6,362 were DOA. 

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Selangor reported the most deaths linked to the virus at five, followed by Terengganu (four) and Johor (three). 

Other states and territories  reporting new deaths are Sabah (two), Kedah, Kelantan, Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Kuala Lumpur (one each). 

Malacca, Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu each accounted for one of the four DOA cases. 

The virus fatality rate dropped to 0.8% yesterday from 0.9% the day before while the 14-day average for deaths by infection stood at nine per million people. – AFP, January 3, 2022.
