MOH reports 26 Covid-19 deaths, all backlog cases

THE Health Ministry (MOH) reported 26 Covid-19-related deaths yesterday, which included three people declared dead on arrival (DOA) at hospital.

The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository showed all deaths were backlog cases.

The MOH said the national death toll is now 31,513, of which 6,358 have been declared DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Kuala Lumpur reported seven deaths, the most by state or territory. Other states reporting new deaths were Selangor (4); Pahang, Perak and Terengganu (3 each); Kedah (2); and Johor, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak (1 each).

No Covid-19-linked deaths were reported in Malacca, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Labuan and Putrajaya.

Of the three DOA cases reported, two were in Kuala Lumpur and one was in Selangor.

The local Covid-19 mortality rate was at 0.9% yesterday, while the national average for deaths by infection was nine per million people. – January 2, 2022.
