THE Minerals and Geosciences Department has reported seven landslides – six in Selangor, one in Negri Sembilan – as at 10am today.

The National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) in a statement said with the incidents today, 140 landslides have occurred during the northeast monsoon season so far.

The Public Works Department has reported disaster incidents, including floods, landslides and road collapses, at 53 locations as of 10am today.

Meanwhile, the Solid Waste Management and Public Cleansing Corporation, an agency under the Housing and Local Government Ministry, has completed 85% of clean-up works in five flood-affected states.

The five states are Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission said 1,007 (96%) of the 1,039 flood-affected communication infrastructures have been repaired.

Based on data from December 19, only 32 infrastructures are under repair, it added.

The National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC) has issued an updated disaster operations preparedness notice, following the Meteorological Department’s continuous bad weather warning.

“Disaster Management Committees at the state and district levels must be activated and their level of preparedness boosted to face impending disasters, especially in high-risk areas,” said the NDCC.

“They must ensure all flood relief centres are equipped with basic necessities and the control post on scene has sufficient operational assets, is in good condition and ready for use.” – Bernama, January 1, 2022.
