25 Covid deaths, 4 of them dead on arrival

TWENTY-FIVE Covid-19 deaths were reported in the country yesterday, four of which were on arrival (DOA), the Health Ministry said. 

The GitHub raw data repository showed all fatalities were backlog reports.

On the last day of 2021, the nation’s virus death toll stood at 31,487, of which 6,355 were DOA cases. 

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Selangor reported the most number of virus deaths at 10, two of which were DOA. 

Other states reporting new deaths were Penang with five, Perak and Terengganu (3 each), and Johor, Kedah, Pahang and Sabah (1 each).

Apart from Selangor, DOA cases were also reported in Sabah and Penang, which logged one each.

The virus fatality rate dropped to 0.9% yesterday from 1% the day before, while the 14-day average for deaths by infection was 10 per million people. – January 1, 2022.
