LEMBAH Pantai member of Parliament Fahmi Fadzil wants to know who gave the greenlight to transfer six plots of land around Kuala Lumpur originally meant for flood retention ponds for development purposes.

The PKR communications director today dismissed claims in a Facebook post that the approvals were given during Pakatan Harapan’s tenure.

Fahmi joined calls by Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh and Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate the case if there were any wrongdoings.

The six retention ponds in question were the Batu, Nanyang, Delima, Taman Wahyu, Batu 4 ½, and Taman Desa ponds.

“In fact, the flood retention of the Taman Desa pond was transferred on June 12, 2018. Khalid Samad (of Pakatan Harapan) was appointed as federal territories minister on July 2, 2018,” he said.

“So, who approved the transfer of ownership of these retention ponds?” he asked in a Facebook post this morning.

He added that there were other parties who could also provide answers on the transfers of other plots, which took place between 2015 and 2020.

Fahmi also tagged former and current Barisan Nasional federal territories ministers Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, Annuar Musa and Shahidan Kassim in the post for answers.

He added that former and current Chief Secretary to the Government Ali Hamsa and Mohd Zuki Ali, as well as the mayors of Kuala Lumpur who had served during the years in question, could provide an explanation on the matter if the plots of land were owned by the Federal Territories.

He reiterated that the matter should have been debated in Parliament on December 20, as it was a life-or-death situation. – December 29, 2021.
