THREE teenagers were killed and another was injured in a shooting at a petrol station in Texas, the United States, over the weekend, said police.

Garland police chief Jeff Bryan said the suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was arrested yesterday afternoon.

A surveillance video of the shooting, which occurred at night on Sunday, shows the gunman getting out of the passenger side of a pickup truck, walking up to the front door of the convenience store at the petrol station and opening fire from the doorway.

Police said he fired more than 20 rounds from a .40 calibre pistol, according to Xinhua.

Then, the gunman gets back into the truck and flees with a male driver, whom police are still searching for.

Police said three boys, aged 14, 16 and 17, respectively, died. Xavier Gonzales, the youngest, was ordering tacos for his family when he was killed.

Bryan said Gonzales was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A 15-year-old store employee, who just started working at the taqueria in the store, was injured and has been hospitalised, said police.

Investigators are trying to determine the motive behind the shooting, according to local media reports. – Bernama, December 28, 2021.
