THE Health Ministry reported 35 coronavirus-related deaths yesterday, which included six dead on arrival (DOA) cases.

The ministry’s GitHub raw data repository showed all deaths were backlog cases.

The national toll now is at 31,369, of which 6,334 are DOA.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported fatalities on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

Selangor reported the most number of fatalities at 11, followed by Penang (5) and Perak (4).

Other states reporting new deaths were Johor and Kuala Lumpur (3 each), Kelantan, Negri Sembilan and Sabah (2 each), as well as Kedah, Malacca and Pahang (1 each).

No coronavirus-linked deaths was reported in Perlis, Sarawak, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.

Of the six DOA cases reported, two were reported in Perak, while one each was reported in Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Sabah and Selangor.

The local Covid-19 fatality rate increased to 0.9% yesterday as compared with 0.8% the day before, while the national average for deaths by infection was 10 per million people. – December 28, 2021.
