THE Health Ministry yesterday logged 843 Covid-19 hospital admissions.
Malaysia has reported fewer than 1,000 daily virus hospitalisations for 16 days since December 10 when 1,057 people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19.
The CovidNow website showed the bed utilisation rate yesterday stood at 61.9%, down from 63.3% the day before. Coronavirus patients accounted for 27.8%.
The hospital admission rate indicates the severity of the virus. Hospital utilisation includes bed usage as well as the number of patients in intensive care units and on ventilators.
In the Klang Valley, Selangor reported 212 new infections, Kuala Lumpur (17) and Putrajaya (11).
Bed utilisation in the Klang Valley, including for non-Covid cases, stood at 55.5%.
Other states that reported new admissions were Johor (194), Kelantan (73), Sabah (63), Kedah (50), Perak (42), Negri Sembilan (39), Sarawak (38), Terengganu (30), Penang (27), Pahang (19), Malacca (17), Perlis (10) and Labuan (1).
Malacca reported the highest bed utilisation rate at 77.8%.
Malaysia yesterday reported 2,778 new infections, the lowest in five days.
The Klang Valley accounted for 829 or 30% of the cases.
Selangor reported 676 cases, Kuala Lumpur (135) and Putrajaya (18).
Other states that reported new cases were Johor 342, Kelantan (311), Penang (247), Kedah (169), Terengganu (164), Pahang (162), Perak (161), Malacca (130), Negri Sembilan (114), Sabah (108), Sarawak (24), Perlis (11) and Labuan (6).
Ventilator utilisation was at 36.3% while ICU occupancy stood at 55.9%, of which 36.3% were coronavirus cases.
Active cases dropped to 44,815.
Among these, 37,183 patients were in home quarantine, 3,783 in low-risk quarantine centres and 3,543 in hospital.
There were 306 cases in intensive care, 170 of them on ventilators. – December 27, 2021.
