THE Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) is expecting a monsoonal surge from next Monday to Friday, and warned the public to be prepared for thunderstorms.

MetMalaysia’s director-general Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said the South China Sea is also facing a low-pressure weather. 

“This situation has the potential to cause continuous rain in east Sabah and west Sarawak from December 27-30,” he said in a Facebook post.

Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan are expected to experience the same on December 30 and 31.

He added that stormy conditions are expected in the South China Sea, including the east coast of the peninsula from December 26 to 31. 

“Those planning to travel to these areas are advised to be careful and be aware of the latest development,” he said. 

MetMalaysia will continue to monitor the weather situation for 24 hours a day and will issue rain and storm warnings as the need arises. – December 24, 2021.
