3,510 new Covid-19 infections

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia now stands at 2,731,713, after today’s report of 3,510 new infections. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Afif Abd Halim, December 23, 2021.

COVID-19 cases stayed above 3,000 for a third day after dipping below that benchmark, with 3,510 new infections reported as of noon today, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The new infections take the cumulative caseload to 2,731,713.

A total of 3,519 new cases were reported yesterday.

Cases dipped to below 3,000 only once – 2,589 on December 20 – since the surge in August last year, when new infections were being recorded at over 10,000 daily.

The breakdown of today’s new cases according to states will be uploaded to the CovidNow website after midnight.

A total of 959 people were hospitalised for Covid-19 yesterday, according to data from the CovidNow website.

The overall hospital bed utilisation rate nationwide was at 63.9%, of which 27.8% were for Covid-19. – December 23, 2021.
