FIVE more fatalities from floods in seven states were reported yesterday, bringing the death toll to 37 deaths, said Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani today.

The five new reports involved four adults and a child.

Acryl Sani said two more people were reported missing yesterday, pushing the total number of missing persons to 10.

A total of 68,341 flood victims from 18,080 families have been housed at 396 temporary evacuation centres nationwide, he added.

“A post-mortem will be done on all victims to determine their actual cause of death,” he told a press conference in Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, Selangor.

“We have yet to receive the reports. I believe the post-mortems have yet to be completed.”

He said each death case is based on reports made by family members or heirs.
