TWO houses in Subang Bestari, Subang, Selangor have been vacated following a 48-hour downpour over the weekend, which has loosened the soil beneath.

A construction worker tasked with rectification works at the site said both houses are now empty.

“Yesterday, there were still people around but today, everyone has been evacuated,” the worker, who wanted to be known as Lalit, told The Malaysian Insight.

“This area did not seem to be flooded but the constant rain over the past few days has caused the houses to be like this.”

One of the houses appeared to suffer more damage, with a sagging roof and pillars due to earth movement.

Continuous heavy rain resulted in devastating floods over the weekend in Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

Nationwide, around 70,000 people have been displaced, with Pahang and Selangor recording the highest number of evacuees.

Another downpour early this morning left part of a highway in Bukit Jelutong flooded again, near the exit to the Shah Alam toll from the Guthrie Highway.

The rain also saw water rising again in parts of Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam, which has been deluged since the weekend. – December 22, 2021.
