A DOWNPOUR early this morning has left Bukit Jelutong flooded again, particularly so in the area near the exit to the Shah Alam toll from the Guthrie Highway. 

The rain also saw water rising again in parts of Sri Muda, which has been deluged since last weekend

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Norazam Khamis said firefighters were deployed in  TTDI Jaya area this morning.

“We responded at 7am this morning at TTDI Jaya.  Several lanes of the Bukit Jelutong toll road are closed,” he said.

According to the Plustrafik report, several exit lanes and one entry lane at Plaza Shah Alam are closed. Users are advised to use alternative routes.

The area had just reopened yesterday after it was closed due to heavy rain.

This caused traffic congestion on the Guthrie Highway, near the Bukit Jelutong exit towards the Shah Alam city centre.

Norazam said Batu Arang, Rawang was also flooded with water up to the knees.

“It is true that there are floods in residential areas. Locals are advised to evacuate but still they do not want to move to safe areas. 

“Bomba is monitoring the situation and ready with logistics for evacuation,” he said. 

Rain was reported in Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat, Sabak Bernam, and Sepang. 

The Malaysia Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms in many parts of Selangor early this morning.

Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Petaling, Kuala Langat, and Sepang are among the areas expected to be affected by rainfall.

Shah Alam City Council tweeted a warning to avoid TTDI Jaya and the Section 13 stadium as water levels are rising in those areas.

It is understood that the floodwaters have receded from a storey high to waist level in Taman Sri Muda, one of the worst affected areas.

Continuous heavy rain resulted in devastating floods over the weekend in Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

As of yesterday, over 61,000 victims had been evacuated to relief centres, with Pahang and Selangor recording the highest number of evacuees

In Selangor alone 30,632 people have been displaced by the severe flooding. –  December 22, 2021.
