MOH reports 57 new Covid-19 deaths

MALAYSIA reported 57 new Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, with five pronounced dead on arrival, the Health Ministry reported. 

The new fatalities brought the coronavirus death toll to 31,192.

The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported deaths on the day plus backlog cases only just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19.

According to the ministry’s Github raw data repository, Penang and Selangor logged nine deaths each.

Other states and territories that reported deaths were Perak (7), Kuala Lumpur (6), Terengganu (6), Negri Sembilan (5), Kedah (4), Kelantan (4), Johor (2), Pahang (2), Sabah (2) and Perlis (1).

No deaths were reported in Malacca, Putrajaya, Labuan or Sarawak. 

The Covid-19 mortality rate stands at 0.7% - December 22, 2021.
