THE Selangor government will provide a month’s waiver on water bills in areas affected by the floods, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari said.

“This is part of the state government’s RM100 million allocation for post-flood recovery efforts,” he said during a press conference in Shah Alam today.

He added that there would also be a two-month moratorium for loans under Selangor’s Usahawan Hijrah programme.

Continuous heavy rain resulted in devastating floods in eight states and territories in the peninsula over the weekend, namely Perak, Pahang, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Negri Sembilan.

As of last night, over 61,000 victims had been evacuated to relief centres, with Pahang and Selangor recording the highest number of evacuees.
